Angela Cartwright, known for her acting roles in Make Room for Daddy, The Sound of Music and Lost In Space, has been a photographer and artist for more than four decades. Her work is exhibited and collected internationally.

Angela's work is a fusion of photography, painting and altered art exploring the interplay of nature with man-made objects -- creating combinations of shadow and light that compel the viewer to take a closer look. After capturing an image with black and white film, she treats the piece as a 'canvas', adding color as an enhancement that gives it a timeless quality.  The end result is an intriguing blend of a painting emerging from within the photograph which she interprets with the use of acrylic, oil paints, inks written word and ephemera.

Angela's book “Mixed Emulsions – Altered Art for Photographic Imagery” was released in November 2007. This book was inspired by her collections of altered art "Beyond the Pale" and "Soul Dwellings" explores Angela's hand-painted photography and her unique altered art techniques.

She partnered with artist Sarah Fishburn to co-author “In This House - A Collection of Altered Art Imagery and Collage Techniques” which was released in July, 2007.  They have just signed to collaborate on another book with Quarry to be released Spring 2009.  Angela and Sarah Fishburn also produce and edit "Pasticco Quartz" a QUalityART Zine three times a year.

Angela also conceptualized and contributed to “Transparent Art,” a book on how to use transparencies in art. She has written numerous articles on photography and altered art techniques for ‘Somerset Studios’, 'Somerset Memories', ‘Belle Amoire', 'Life Images' and ‘Art Doll Quarterly’ magazines.

Stampington & Company has released Angela Cartwright Artist Papers, three collections of her images as artist papers, vellums and transparencies and a line of rubber stamps The Unruly Girls Club made from Angela's sketches.   Other partners in licensing Angela’s art are the New York Graphic Society, ArtBeats (art posters) and ThirstyStone (coasters).

You can view Angela’s work at her studio - A Studio Gallery - 4260 Lankershim Blvd. Studio City, California 91602. Here she is curator of the exclusively black & white phoography gallery - www.astudiogallery.com and is a founding member of 4260 Black & White Photography Guild www.4260photo.com.

While photography and art consume most of her life, she continues writing books and articles and developing projects for her production company based in Los Angeles, California.
